Steadfast Festival Returns to Columbus on Saturday

Steadfast Festival presented by Tuned Up makes its triumphant return to Strongwater Food and Spirits this Saturday, March 9. The festival is now in its fourth year and again showcases a wonderfully eclectic lineup, headlined by 88.7 Radio U’s Mike Mains & The Branches, who are currently touring in promotion of their upcoming LP When We We In Love. CD102.5 electronica act SHAED are also on the bill, as well as indie rockers Faintheart from Kansas City and Indianapolis based rapper O.D.D.I.T.Y.

The festival also had a plethora of excellent local acts, including the ineffable Zoo Trippin’, alt-rockers Hello Luna, dance-pop quartet Captain Kidd, and hip-hop duo Label Me Lecter, who have also recently been featured as a “Local Gem” on CD102.5. Also playing are Spirit of the Bear, Whale Bones, Rymo, and The Forty.

Steadfast started as an off-the-wall idea by Tuned Up founder Ryan Getz in a meeting with the creative pastor from Veritas church, which hosted the first two festivals. The original festival was a mostly local affair, but was headlined by the likes of Oceanspeak and local legends Nick D’ and the Believers. Getz says they caught their big break in year two when recently reformed Seattle-based rockers The Classic Crime agreed to take the main slot. The group’s newest album had just debuted at number 96 on the Billboard 200 and brought some prestige (and pre-sale tickets) to the festival.

Getz decided to bump things up to a larger location the next year, and hopes that this festival will be their biggest yet. He says that he’s received submissions from bands across the US to play this year as well as the many local bands who populate the lineup. Considering the variety of the lineup and the names at the top, I’m sure it will be another fantastic event.

Doors will be at 2:30pm, with music rotating between two stages (see below for lineup). There will also be a special pre-show this Friday at Donatos basement, with an equally broad range of bands headlined by punk rockers We Are The Movies.  Tickets for that show are $10 but you can get in for free if you have already purchased tickets for the main festival.

Advance tickets for Steadfast can be purchased here for $15 ($20 at the door).
