The Cat Club Podcast with MC Freeman – Episode 143

A new episode of The Cat Club Podcast airs every Monday.

You never know what you’re going to hear each week on the show, but this one has the added dimension of time travel…

MC Freeman informed us he had bounced around the farthest corners of the universe on his journey to reach us from over 1,000 years in the future. He said this without a hint of irony and a twinkle in his eye, stating he was happy to bring his Party Art Money Rap musical style to all of us living on this giant hunk of rock we call Earth.

He has his hands in many groups, whether it’s performing or producing, all while releasing full-length albums, EP’s, or collections of single releases. These groups include SQUAD, 96e (pronounced ninety-six east), Twisted Kids, Mont Saint Michael, and he has released music under the name Peter Vilardi. He also writes for an underground ‘zine called Experimental Kindergarten. We merely scratch the surface of a few of the myriad musical tones that comprise much of the music he’s released over the last decade.

We go in-depth with him, weaving from seriousness to levity, all while getting surprisingly philosophical at throughout the show. Regarding his music, don’t make the mistake of thinking you know where a song is going as you listen to it. There are so many unexpected twists and turns due to his deconstruction of each song, before he rebuilds the songs. In a word, this episode goes deep

We also welcome him into our merry band of music nerds, as he has agreed to join the staff of Music In Motion Columbus as a writer covering the lesser-known, but no less important, underground music scene bubbling just below the surface of Columbus.

Music on this week’s show:

  1. Intro / PayPal Hydro
  2. Venmo Vision (feat. Daniella)
  3. Emotional Shii with 96e
  4. Empress Theresa / Frankie (as Peter Vilardi)
