The Cat Club Gets Funky with Hype Level Midnite – Episode 236

This week, the Cat Club gets all funky when Hype Level Midnite make their inaugural appearance on the show.

Their are so many different influences that the members of the group bring up that the band cannot be pigeonholed into one or two descriptive words. As for genre? When you take Rap, Funk, Rock & more and throw them in a blender, the result is the mellifluous sound of pure aewsomesauce!

HLM’s vocalists, Loki Dope and Shinobi Shaw, are joined by Jason Smith from Bertha Hill Music, fresh off their set at the Werk Out Music & Arts Festival last weekend, and spend an hour with us expounding on the Columbus music scene and the loss of venues that helped nurture the underground Hip Hop scene. They drop the fact that preparations are underway for the band going into the studio to record their debut album, and talk about their next few upcoming concerts.

All of the songs you’ll hear on this episode were recorded live at various venues in Central Ohio.

They’re returning to the site of their first festival appearance the weekend of Sep 30th – Oct 2nd for the 5th Annual Homestead Music & Arts Festival in Crooksville, OH. Tickets are available HERE.
