There’s an old adage that states you can take the kid out of New York, but you can’t take New York out of the kid. Although I have lived in Ohio and Columbus for nearly 19 years, there are times I miss the general weirdness of where I was born and raised. Plus, I have yet to find a pizza joint that can come close to a slice of pie from a New York pizzeria…
To satisfy this longing, I’m happy and privileged to have Dizzy Doll & Dan, founders of NYC punk rock band Half Dizzy join me this week. The husband and wife team have been making music as a duo for years, but decided during the pandemic-induced quarantine to form a band.
Their music is solid, fresh and full of energy. Not content to be pigeonholed into one facet of punk, they showcase straight up fast paced songs to bringing a horn section in to satisfy their love of Ska for another song. All this on their debut album released in October 2022, and sounding like the band has been together for much longer than a couple of years.
